Some News You Can Use

Quick burst of stuff that came off the press yesterday:

1.  The Avengers is looking to be one of the longest movies of the year.  The first cut apparently came in at something like three hours, but Joss Whedon swears he's cut it down.  In other news, folks probably shouldn't be surprised when a serial fiction writer comes in with an over-long movie script.  Different media, people.

2.  Nobody on the Tennessee Titans seems to want Peyton Manning... except the owner, Bud Adams.  Which is a big part of why I've found it hard to root for the team these last few years.  They've got a good thing going with new head coach Mike Munchack and QB Jake Locker.  Unfortunately, Bud's too old to be willing to rebuild his team the right way.

3.  I was sad to see that the Giants cut RB Brandon Jacobs.  I love watching Jacobs play.

4.  Finally, the Raiders cut Kevin Boss.  What're the odds he winds up back with Big Blue?  Considering the Giants don't have ANY tight ends with working knees, that's a move I'd like to see.

Well, with the new League Year starting tomorrow, Free Agency is here at last.  From now until the end of the first week of the regular season, hope springs eternal around the NFL.  I want to see my teams do well, and I think it could happen, but we've got a lot of off-season crap to get through before we finally get back into football.

*sigh*
