Friday Hair Metal: Free Fallin'

Sally had this version of this song on last night when I got home.  I've never been a huge fan of Tom Petty even though people have told me that I look like Petty--not a compliment, that--but I liked this version quite a bit.

I get the feeling that today's music industry doesn't quite know what to do with a guy like John Mayer.  He could easily be a pop star, but he seems rather to want to be a singer/songwriter/six-string cowboy.

This track doesn't really show it, but lately Mayer reminds me a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughn.  And yet, it seems like he's almost disappeared off the radio airwaves, even in places like Sirius XM, where they have stations that ought to strongly support his stuff.
