Sally's First Post

Last month I asked Dan if I could start a blog on his blog site, and his answer was "Yes, but what are going to write about?"  I looked at him like a monkey lost in a jungle and said, "I don't know.  I guess I will write about what I know best...  Health, fitness, good eats, wine parings, shopping, and pretty much everything you don't write about."

For the past month I have been thinking about what my first post was going to be, and basically, I would love to write about many things. I have even written up articles in my head a few times. And since this is site of lists, I decided to write a list about what I am going to write about.

Here are the first five topics that I'd like to write about:

1) How to shop wisely.
I am not talking about cutting out coupons or signing up for another points reward system. I mean that we all know that is a marketer's dream for the consumer to purchase many things and then pay for them on their credit card--and then count on cashing in or trading some kind of loyalty points for even ore stuff.  We wind up with stuff and then even more stuff.

What I would like to talk about is how I have found a way to bypass all that nonsense and go a different route.  Check out at the end of the month for this bargain of a blog.

2) Juice it up!
After having my ultra Acme juicer (and yes there is a company called Acme, and they just don't sell to the Wile-E Coyote when he needs a what-ya-ma-call-it to kill off that rascally Roadrunner) stored away for nearly 2 decades, finally, the thing has re-emerged.

There are so many great recipes you can do with a juicer, but you don't need to buy one of those expensive kinds. I will show you how to juice with simple ingredients and alter the flavor so that they actually taste good.

3) Workouts.
Some of you know that I am fitness instructor at a local gym.  I went through a three-hour training program and Voila!  I am a certified fitness instructor.

My first classes were total flops at first.  But now, after a month of work, research, and fill-ins, I have to say that I've developed a following.  Folks are coming to me asking for advice.  How do I get rid of this (pointing to their bellies)?  How do I avoid injuries?

I have to admit that if you asked me a year ago what I would be doing one year later, I would have never have said that I'd be a certified fitness instructor.  I mean, my ass has never been this tight, even after all those years of running and doing triathlons.

4) Environmental Toxins.
I am huge advocate for a healthy environment and making the right choices when it comes time to choosing products for your home, your hair, or your skin.  There is a lot of information out there regarding potential hazards in our homes.  I want to talk about replacing your everyday products with homemade ones.  It's not about science, its about knowing where certain chemicals are and what they can do to us when we inhale, absorb or ingest them.

5) Wine and Food.
Who doesn't love wine and food?  Dan and I both do, and I'd like to share some of our love with you.

And that is what I have in mind for my first few pieces.  I hope you'll like them.
