Strolling thru Twitter

Can't remember ever feeling like this.  Good for you, Jeff.
Speaking personally, I'm happy Spring is here.  Though, to be honest, it's still cold in Connecticut, and we still have snow on the ground.

We're only two episodes in, but I've been enjoying Iron Fist the series quite a bit.   I still understand the backlash about casting a white guy, but by making him non-Asian, the series was able to make him seem really confused, which is kind of the point.  At least in the comics, Iron Fist is a guy who doesn't fit in anywhere.  After fifteen years in Asia, he's not exactly the upperclass white dude that he once was, but he's certainly not Asian, and both his best friend and his girlfriend are African-American.  That sense of dislocation comes across in the series, but reviewers are so confuzzled by the slow burn that they don't seem to want to give it a chance.

Granted, I'm a comics fan and particularly a fan of Power Man & Iron Fist, so maybe I'm predisposed to liking it in the first place.  Nevertheless, I've really enjoyed how weird it all seems in the show.  They did a better job with that on Netflix than Roy Thomas and company did in the comics in the 1970s.

Because the people are all so naturally beautiful?  That'd be my guess.  I'd imagine that it's hard to be angry when you're surrounded by the most naturally gorgeous people on the planet.

From Reuters:
"Happy countries are the ones that have a healthy balance of prosperity, as conventionally measured, and social capital, meaning a high degree of trust in a society, low inequality and confidence in government," Jeffrey Sachs, the director of the SDSN and a special advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General, said in an interview.

By the way, Syria and Yemen are tied for least happiest place.  Both currently feature grinding poverty, unending social upheaval, and raging civil war, so that's not exactly a shocker.

That's about all I've got time for today.  Enjoy Monday!
