Highlights from 2024

Happy New Year! I hope this note finds you happy and healthy heading into 2025.

It feels like a lot happened this past year for Casa Cabeza, to the point that this is now my third attempt to put it all into some kind of context. I finally decided to publish a simple list of highlights.

Danno & Sally Cabeza

These are presented in no particular order.

A Few Words About Finding Love & Sex

I've been thinking a lot lately about my kids. I've got two girls, both elder teenagers, girls who'd already be married adults in another time and place. Here they are growing up in this crazy world that feels very much like it is losing its direction in some very basic ways. For example, why do I keep reading about women who don't like getting choked during sex?

No. Don't answer that.

I already know the answer.

Quick Thoughts: Ralph Breaks the Internet

Sally, the kids, and I saw Ralph Breaks the Internet over the weekend, and we all liked it.  Most of the reviews I’ve seen talk about the ways in which the movie cleverly captures the quirks of online life, and I agree that they did a nice job with that.  But the movie also went to kind of a lot of trouble to get into issues of toxic masculinity and girl power, and while I think those aspects are great in concept, it’s this that I wanted to talk about.  Bottom line, I didn’t love some of the movie’s basic premise nor the way the plot resolved itself.
*Spoilers Below*
No seriously.  I am gonna get straight into the movie’s climax right after the jump.

Weekend Thoughts: Sally's Birthday & Alisha's Wedding

We threw a big party for Sally's birthday on Friday, and last night we went to a wedding.  It's been a big weekend of drinking and dancing and feasting, but especially last night at the wedding, I found myself becoming a bit reflective.

5 Things on a Friday: Trouble on Rogue One

Happy Friday, everyone!
It was a short week at our house, and yet it still felt incredibly full.  How the Hell does that happen?
