As I said yesterday on Facebook, I'm surprised they didn't try to evaluate the effects of choice in this study.  Long, slow distance rats chose to run.  The others were put through their paces by researchers doing distinctly unnatural exercises.  It strikes me that this is extremely likely to affect results.
