To be fair, I doubt that it would ever go down like this in real life.  For one thing, it's not my impression that insurgent rifle accuracy is particularly high.  The old, "wound a guy and then shoot his rescuing comrades" trick only works if you can hit a target repeatedly.  Also: Navy corpsmen travel with Marine infantry units, and they go out into fire to get wounded men like this all the time.  That is kind of what they do.

Suffice it to say that this is not my favorite page of this particular story.  But the page makes its point, and I'm kind of out of the military cliches after this--thank God.
