An Evening at Delmonico's

Me: So, what do you have on draft?

Waitress: Oh lots.  I couldn't even name them all.

Me:  Yeah?  Awesome.  Well how about an IPA.  What IPA's do you have?

Waitress:  Uh...  Harpoon.

Me: Oh.  Well then, how about a Czech pilsner?

Waitress:  A what?!

Me:  Fine.  I'll just have a Sierra Nevada.

Waitress:  Oh.  We don't have that, sorry.

Me:  *sigh*  Okay.  Umm...  Stella Artois?

Waitress:  We used to have that.  But we don't any more.

Me:  Fine.  I'll just have a Sam Adams.  You must have Sam Adams, right?

Waitress:  All we've got is the seasonal, is that all right?  Well, it's gonna have to be, because that's all we've got.

Me:  Yeah, that's fine.  Especially since I don't have any choice.

  1. This is just like having a choice...but different! :)

  2. Exactly. She had so many beers she couldn't name them all, and yet they amounted to your usual-type selection. It was really just a bunch of mainstream domestic stuff, Guiness, and the stuff that the mainstream companies have started to put out to compete with craft brewers, i.e. Blue Moon, Killian's Red, Harpoon, etc.

That said, I was honestly surprised they didn't have Stella Artois. I didn't think Stella was an at all out-of-the-box choice.
