I've said this before, but in general I don't mind too much that this story wound up getting cut short.  Some of the character arcs got cut short, yes, but for the most part, I think the story became a little more focused, and although it's a shame that the ending is now kind of abrupt, the fact is that brevity is usually better than beating a dead horse.

However, there was a lot for Spice's girlfriend Maryanne to do in the original version of this story, and considering that she's getting her ass beat here, I think it's a shame that we don't see that.  Women get beat up in male-dominated fiction pretty commonly--to the point where it's pretty much a trope of superhero and fantasy fiction these days--and that sucks.  But it especially sucks when you don't sort of get to see it go anywhere.
