I was in Albany most of this week, so I had some yardage to make up when I got home. I feel like I've spent a lot of time in the water over the past three days, but it's been worth it.
Friday evening:
200 SKIPS*
15 x 100 @ 1:25 aerobic pace
100 warm down
After nearly two weeks out of the water, that main set was really rough.
Saturday morning:
5 x 100 warm-up @ 1:30
200 kick
10 x 200 @ 2:50 mid-tempo (85%)
3 min. rest
10 x 200 @ 2:55 aerobic pace (this was tough)
2 x 200 kick with :30 rest between
100 easy/drill
2 x 5 x 100 @ 1:30 tempo (1st set was okay; 2nd set was ugly)
100 warm down
Sunday Morning:
200 SKIPS*
10 x 100 @ 1:30, descending 1-5 twice
100 easy
To be 42 years old, I feel like I'm swimming pretty well. Those three workouts totalled 11,000 yards in three days, which is further than I've swum in more than 20 years. Best of all, though, was the pace work on this morning's descending 100s: 1:23, 1:19, 1:15, 1:12, 1:08 (*whew*), 1:23, 1:21, 1:18, 1:14, 1:10.
That ain't bad.
*SKIPS: Swim / Kick / IM / Pull / Swim. 200 SKIPS totals 1,000 yards.
