Swim Practice

Had my first swim practice with my Tri team last night, and honestly, it was terrific.  I really wish that coaching and teaching swimming in general paid a wage on which I could support my family because I had more fun last night than I've had in weeks.

The team was a mix of swimmers, from novices who could barely swim a lap to one girl who'd been on her high school swim team.  We had two veterans, Megan, she's the one who'd been on her high school team and then serviced as a Military Intelligence specialist, and Chris, who'd been a Navy Corpsman with the Marines and is now teaching spin classes at the Y.  They were my two best swimmers.

On the other end was Marisol, who's run four marathons but who is, charitably, an emerging swimmer.  But as I told Marisol last night, she's ahead of where I thought she'd be, and frankly, learning to swim well is an intense process.  With that said, she seems determined, and I have high hopes for her.  In fact, seeing her progress was probably my favorite part of the night.

  2. I too, am a big Marisol supporter and have been for quite some time. She wasn't a runner when she decided to run her first marathon. She couldn't swim a bit, but went waterskiing in San Diego with me. She's gonna crush this - you can count on it.

  3. Well, I'm also a big supporter of Marisol's, and frankly, I won't be at all surprised when she does well. Not one bit.
