My daughter Hannah suggested this challenge for our family. She wants to try writing more poetry, and she's hoping that this challenege will get her into the habit.
She, my daughter Emma, and I are all doing the challenge. Yesterday was Day 5.
I dictated this piece to Emma on our way up to Berkshire East Ski Resport yesterday morning.

my favorite old black converse shoes
went everywhere they could with me
uhhhhh
no i’m sorry i’m trying to rhyme something with shoes
don’t be like that
emma
all i can come up with is moos
or blues
shoes…
there’s an, uh…
(read that back to me?)
alright so my favorite old black converse shoes went everywhere with me
on the bike, then on the train
then all the way to NYC
my favorite old black converse shoes
i took—i would take them wherever i would go
to the boat club on the water
or to the mountain with the snow
i took them with me to Colorado
and up, to New York’s Albany
uhm
i took them everywhere I went
they went everywhere that I might be
my favorite old black converse shoes
(uhhhhh)
finally died last month you see
i carried them solemnly to the trash
alright obviously that doesn’t rhyme so i gotta fix that last one
actually, delete that line in the third stanza (the landfill line in the third stanza)
one final place for them to see.
(yes. wanna read that back?
there’s probably some corrections to the metre...)
