My daughter Hannah suggested this challenge for our family. She wants to try writing more poetry, and she's hoping that this challenege will get her into the habit.
She, my daughter Emma, and I started this thing, and then my wife joined after a few days. Now we are all doing the challenge. Today is Day 8.
The Three Ingredients
Love begins a tiny, flickering spark, Kindled by that dress you wore without shame Or the bikini chosen on a lark. Soon a spark bursts into roaring flame. Love lives in the making of our choices. When we decide to see each other’s best; Despite broken feelings and raised voices, We forgive and then choose to reinvest. Love is about our pulling together When life is trying to pull us apart. Holding fast and intertwining forever Makes a thread that won’t unravel or part. Love’s spark brings forth a flame of pure delight, But it’s choices that keep that flame alight.
