Five Things on a Friday: Bimbo Boost & Other Stories

Happy Friday, friends.

We've had a busy week. I spent a little time rewriting Gun Girl Gracie around midweek, and as much as I enjoyed it, that little indulgence put me behind the chains with As For Football as the week developed. We somehow managed to get everything together on deadline this week, but I'm telling you, yesterday got kind of frantic.

Whew!

Thankfully, it's now Friday, and with our weekly mailer out, my work here is done... at least for the next forty-eight or so hours. That gives us a bit of time to ponder the week that was.

It feels like a lot happened.

Five Things on a Friday: College Football Begins!

Friends, I've been busy as all hell this week.

My wife and daughter Hannah went to Bar Harbor, Maine, leaving me to water the plants, watch the dog, and mind the house. Not a big deal, really, except that I've also been working, swimming, and gearing up As For Football for Week 1 of the college football season. Thankfully it rained pretty consistently through the back half of the week, but finding an extra half-hour to water the plants became a real challenge on Monday. In addition to everything else, I wound up doing three podcasts this week, two for AFF and one to promote AFF and The Return of Dr. Necropolis.

All of that was great, but it definitely kept me jumping.

Thankfully, things slowed down later in the week, giving me enough time to breathe a little.

Four Things on a Friday: A Personal Round-Up

I want you guys to appreciate how busy I got this week. It's college football Week 0, both AFF podcasts ran over an hour this week, and I'm looking for a cover artist for The Return of Dr. Necropolis. And let me just note that as much as I love that title, "The Return of Dr. Necropolis" is long and a bit cumbersome for an actual book cover.

Sigh.

If you missed it, we had a truly outstanding AFF Army Football Show this week. Shannon Horne's husband Paul Horne joined us for an in-depth dive into Army's O-Line. I can pretty much guarantee that you've never heard anything like this before.

It got surprisingly mathematical. Paul went straight for my engineer's heart.

Anyway. I am trying to write here a little more often, so here goes.

Dr. Necropolis Promo

I've been playing with this for a couple of days, and now, finally, I think I've about got what I want. I guess we'll see.

Just so you know, I put this 100% together using a 16 x 9 aspect ratio before I remembered that the kids do everything vertically these days. Sigh. I then had to recut the visuals vertically for your phones.

Five Things on a Friday: Catching Up Since 2020

I have a LOT to do today, friends. But I need to warm my brain up a little before we get into it, and for that, we turn to Five Things. If you're wondering, our last Five Things on a Friday occured on Friday, September 11, 2020.

So yeah, it's been a while. I hope you're all doing well in what very much feels like a world gone mad.

Catching Up with Recent Social Media Threads

I set a goal for the New Year to spend less time on social media and more time here. It's not that I don't want folks to be able to catch up with what's going on with me and Sally, it's that social media writ-large feels like a dying a medium. I've only ever been on social media to promote my own writing and/or to see pictures of my friends doing awesomely fun stuff, but even with that, it's a little too easy to just pontificate mindlessly on those sites.

Which is dumb. I have a site for that, it's here, and it's actually mine.

So anyway, here are some recent social media posts. I'm posting them here, so that you can catch up if you want to. I've presented these in chronological order.
