30 Day Poetry Challenge: Day 12

My daughter Hannah suggested this challenge for our family. She wants to try writing more poetry, and she's hoping that this challenge will get her into the habit.

She, my daughter Emma, and I started this thing, and then my wife joined after a few days. Now we are all doing the challenge.

Today is Day 12.

12. Write about the seasons as if they were people. How do they feel?

Winter, you are so good to see
When you bother to come around
I love to ski your snowy goodness
Atop your glorious shroud.

Spring, you’re kind of a drag, you know,
With the Sun a maybe half-power,
It’s rainy all the time, it’s true;
That’s how you bring the flowers.

Summer, you’re oft too hot by far
But fun, too, all the same
Swimming in open water rocks,
It keeps me in the game.

Fall, you are the best of all,
My favorite of the seasons
Autumn leaves and football games,
Yeah, those are my reasons.

And now you know the seasons
As though they were real folk.
They’ve each a personality
To know as if we’d spoke.
