We marched back from Camp Buckner a day before the plebes returned from Lake Frederick, and in no time, my classmates and I settled back into Academic Year rhythms.  I watched my own plebe struggle through Reorganization Week, eventually pulling him aside that Friday afternoon as my own team leader had done with me the previous year.

“Cangolosi!  Go take a shower right now!  That’s an order!”

So what is the most honest way of talking about the Trump economy? It goes like this: The president inherited an economy that had come a long way toward healing. During his administration, the economy has continued growing at about the same rate it did before he took office, pushing incomes, employment and output to yet higher levels.

5 Things on a Friday: Not Going Back to Korea

Happy Friday, folks!

My last duty station with the Army was Camp Garryowen in the Republic of Korea.  I didn't love my time there, but there were certainly good things about it, and over the years, I've come to think of that time as a blessing.  Compared to some other possibilities, Korea offered an interesting culture in a fairly safe operating environment alongside an ostensibly important real-world mission.  Still, my favorite times had nothing to do with my service in the United States Cavalry.  What I remember most is heading to the local town of Munson with the squadron's other staff captains, looking for trouble--or at least a decent place to get Korean barbecue.  These were, by far, my favorite moments overseas.

A Bunch of Old Pictures

I found most of these over the weekend cleaning out some of the pictures that were with my mom's old stuff.

My mother died back in 2011, but when she was alive, her house oftentimes felt more like a museum than an actual living space.  There were boxes and boxes of pictures.

It took me years to go through them all.  First off, because I didn't know what to do with all of them, and secondly, just because I found it difficult to confront my parents' legacy.  They were vibrant and alive and a big part of my life, until one day they weren't.  All the crap that goes along with that was just... tough.

Anyway, these were some of my favorites out of the many boxes.  They show parts of my life that weren't well-chronicled elsewhere.
